Shaping Research: Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement

Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) is at the core of our research, ensuring that everything we do reflects the real-world needs of people with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). By involving individuals with lived experience, we can create meaningful, impactful outcomes that resonate with the community.

So far, our PPIE team has played an important role in shaping our work. We’ve held focus groups to explore how current mobile health apps support mental well-being in T1D, identifying gaps and potential features for improvement. Our PPIE members also reviewed our study protocol before submission for sponsorship and ethics approval, providing valuable feedback to make it clear, relevant, and participant-focused.

Looking forward, the PPIE team will remain an integral part of our project. They will collaborate with us to review study materials to ensure clarity and accessibility and contribute to our website by sharing insights and feedback. Importantly, we hope they’ll share their personal stories about living with T1D and mental health to help bring a human perspective to our project.

We’re deeply grateful to our PPIE team for their invaluable contributions and are always looking for more individuals to join us. We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to help shape our research!

Welcome to T1MED

Welcome To T1MED!

Hello and welcome to the T1MED website!!!

We are a team of researchers from the University of Warwick working to improve health and wellbeing for people living with Type 1 Diabetes. As part of a PhD project, we aim to develop a mobile health intervention to support the psychological wellbeing of people living with Type 1 Diabetes.

One of our key goals throughout this project is to ensure that we share our work and findings with the individuals who need them most. This includes patients, carers and healthcare professionals. We are excited to launch our new website, which we hope will make our work more accessible and understandable to the people we want to reach.

In addition to sharing updates about our work, we will also invite guests including colleagues, clinicians and others, to contribute to this website and project. We aim to add new posts every month and will share important news and updates as they happen. Additionally, we are committed to ensuring that our project is shaped by the voices and experiences of those it is designed to benefit. Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) is central to our work. If you would like to contribute to our project or support us through PPIE, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We would love to hear from you!
